SOMETHING TO TELL THE PEOPLE OF EDMONTON?

Auto Insurance Question!

Does anyone have recommendations for auto insurance?

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

I have 2 accidents and 1 speeding ticket, so I switched from Costco insurance to TD insurance because they were significantly cheaper but I recently moved from Allard area to Brintnell area and my insurance jumped from $470 to $609 because this area has more claims?… I’ve had insurance since I was 18 and I’ve never dealt with this much an increase before now that I’m 23.

ANOTHER POST:  Weighted blanket.

I know my insurance will be high for another 1.5 years until the 2 claims come off.

Thank you!

    2. Amy Melby as a society we pay as a whole. 100% of Alberta, regardless where you are insured. We all are paying for Calgary flooding, Slave Lake and Fort Mc.

    3. I was with intact till this month when i renewed. My insurance only went down $35 a month even though a claim came off and a yr clean driving. Only have 1 accident, no convictions on my record. Switched to SGI and my insurance is half for the same coverage per month. And i was with intact for 10 yrs. Was not impressed with them this yr at all. Nor was my broker.

    4. Intact has had a large increase this year, it has nothing to do with how long you are with them. Reality is all these huge losses in AB are contributing. You can switch companies but its only a matter of time before they implement a rate increase too.

    1. Me too. I have been all over different area of Edmonton. Downtown. Northeast. North Central. My insurance has only ever gone down… Maybe it’s different if you have accidents on file.. I have none.

    1. Can be up to 7 yrs. Depends on when during your term the claim is. I had 1 come off a month after the 6 yr mark. As it is on for 6 yrs plus the remainder of your term. Tickets are 3 yrs from the day you pay or the conviction date plus the remainder or your term.

  1. Go through a broker , just cause someone is getting a good rate with a certain company doesn’t mean you will. Rates are now based on postal codes due to claims frequencies in the areas. Ive heard nothing but horror stories from any insurance through banks, mostly call centres service is not consistent.
