SOMETHING TO TELL THE PEOPLE OF EDMONTON?

Grant McEwan or Norquest

I’m new to Canada and need advice which school has a better reputation for employers.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW

Planning to take the Accounting Technology Cert from McEwan University or the Accounting Technician Certificate of Norquest College. And also does it matter to employers if I take the program thru Online and not face to face delivery? What are the difference.

ANOTHER POST:  I need help

I work fulltime and both schools offer online delivery but only McEwan has evening classes. Thank you.

  1. With the education you will receive from either one of those institutions you will only be able to use the degree to wipe your ass.

  2. Generally it doesn’t matter which school you go to as long as it’s a canadian school, but MacEwan has the better reputation. If you have the option to go through them, that’s my suggestion. Taking a few of the evening courses will also gain you contacts and a bit more of a network than online classes will, something MacEwan evening programs pride themselves on.

    1. What sketchy places have you worked? I’ve been recruiting for 5 years and have not come across a manager who devalues NorQuest.
MacEwan is the superior choice due to it’s format, teacher involvement and ability to encourage a network for students post-education. However the actual education varies very little.

  3. MacEwan is more reputable and recognized. I had to make this decision on where to attend for my social work program. You would probably get more out of MacEwan. I’ve always heard the staff at Norquest aren’t the greatest.

  4. MacEwan all the way… Many employers won’t recognize Norquest, from my experience.

I also used to work for MacEwan prior to resigning to raise my children and it truly is a top notch institution with amazing instructors

    1. Absolutely! In Edmonton there’s only a couple of college/Universities to take courses at. That are reconized in Canada MacEwan, Norquest, and NAIT. Those three are the only ones recognized.

    1. that’s completely inaccurate. The only reason to take a few of the courses in person is to build a network, something MacEwan is excellent at. I’ve been in recruiting for 5 years and never once have I heard a manager say they don’t want to look at someone because it’s online course. and I’ve heard managers say a lot of dumb things.
